Although Lawrence (Micheal J. Smith Sr.) survives a suicide attempt, his brother Darius does not. After a bit of therapy to help him readjust to life, Lawrence visits his brother's widow, Marlee (Tarra Riggs), to deliver Darius' will. Now as a single mother, Marlee is struggling to raise her 12-year-old son James (JimMyron Ross) and to keep him away from the drugs and the violence that dominate their small town. Mother and son both convince Lawrence to stay with them and to somehow get all three of their lives back on the right track.
